Mike Reid
Mike Reid is Associate Director of the UCB-UCSF Center for Global Health Diplomacy, Delivery and Economics. He serves as Chief Medical Officer of the UCSF Pandemic Initiative for Equity & Action. Reid is involved with policy analyses, research, and agenda-setting activities related to improving care delivery for people living with HIV, TB, and other chronic diseases in sub Saharan Africa. Mike runs the secretariat for the Lancet Commission on Tuberculosis and is Director of the STRIPE HIV project. He is also co-PI on the Gilead funded Global Leaders for UHC project (GL-UHC).
He is also an infectious disease physician within the Positive Health Practice "Ward 86" at ZSFG at San Francisco General Hospital. Prior to joining UCSF, he spent five years working in PEPFAR funded programs in Africa and was the lead physician in the University of Pennsylvania’s Global Health program in Gaborone, Botswana for three years. Michael has published more than 50 peer-reviewed publications. He holds a Master’s degree in public health from Berkeley and completed his medical school training at Cambridge University and Imperial College, London.
